Booking gorilla permits in Uganda- A gorilla permit is a document issued to allow you the access to the habituated gorilla families ready for tourists in their natural habitants in Uganda or Rwanda; this document can be booked directly from Uganda wild life authority (UWA) or through the licensed tour operators.opo gorilla trekking safaris has been booking gorilla permits on behalf of our clients and we still do it perfectly. But if you want to book your gorilla permits directly from (UWA) you will have to E-MAIL the Uganda revenue authority office inquiring the availability of the permits on the dates or the days you chose to track gorillas. The cost of the gorilla permits
Gorilla trekking in Uganda is done in Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park but the gorilla families in Mgahinga national park are mostly for research activities and there for tracking is done in Bwindi impenetrable national park, although during booking you will have to specify on the two national parks where your interest is, while gorilla trekking is done in the virunga mountains of Rwanda. The gorilla permit is $700 for foreigners’ shs 250,000 for natives in Uganda while$1500 for Rwanda. But booking the permits in both countries should be done months prior to gorilla trekking. One should know that gorilla permits for Uganda are much more available than those in Rwanda just because they are many permits for trekking in Uganda and more gorilla families than Rwanda. Note these prices are per person. You will finally receive a scanned copy of your gorilla trekking permit within few days or weeks and when you arrive the safari company which organized your tour/worked on your permit will provide the permit to you.
Before you go for gorilla trekking you will be guided on the gorilla family to trek depending on your physical fitness. no one can be allowed to trek gorillas wit out a gorilla permit. when booking a gorilla permit you provide your name ,passport number ,nationality and date of birth. There for you can never have your gorilla permit to another person, in this case you provide your passport and identification documents on the briefing session before the trekking day.
When to book for a gorilla trekking permits
Tourists are advised to book gorilla permits three months in advance, one can book up to 2 years in advance and this favors tourists who would be interested in tracking gorillas during high seasons of dry months of June, July august ,September, December, January and February. Since in these months gorilla permits are early sold out so this gives an advantage. in 2017 Uganda abolished low season gorilla trekking permits discount there for the gorilla permit cost is the same throughout all seasons you would wish to trek gorillas.
